Friends of Fiorelli was founded in the summer of 2014 to raise money for Lauren Fiorelli, who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor when she was 32 weeks pregnant.
It is the goal of the organization to raise money for families in need in and around the area of Kirtland, Ohio. All money raised goes directly to the families to cover medical expenses and other related costs when dealing with medical battles.
Friends of Fiorelli is currently raising money for 9 year old Kirtlander, Landon Pettrey and his family. Here's his story:
Landon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) on September 26, 2014 at the age of 7. He started his first chemotherapy treatment the following day. He has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and steroid treatment for the last 23 months and still has a year and a half of treatment remaining.
He takes several chemo pills on a daily basis, as well as going to the clinic for chemo infusions every 4 weeks. Every 3 months, he also has a lumbar puncture to get chemo and steroids to his spine and brain.
He is constantly battling neuropathy, intense pain, and "chemo brain." In the summer of 2016, it was discovered that he has bone death from the steroids, resulting in little to no steroids being given to him, which is half of the leukemia treatment. Because of the bone death, he most likely will need knee and hip replacement in the next 5 years or so and then possibly more in the future.
Landon is now 9 years old and in the 4th grade. He attended Kirtland Elementary School up to the 2015-2016 school year. His mom now home schools he and his brother, Chase, due to the fact that they missed so much school in the past due to the treatments and side effects. He is a tough little boy!
We need to raise some money to help he and his family with all the medical bills, extra expenses, and rising insurance rates.
Sal Culotta, husband to Nora, and father to Mariana, Carmella, and Salina, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from a heart attack. We are trying to raise money to help the family with unexpected costs and allow Nora to spend some valuable time with her girls in their time of grief.
We need to raise some money to help Nora and her family with all the bills.
Proceeds from all fundraisers will be split between the two families.
